COVID-19 has been declared a global pandemic and it is caused by a virus named the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses found mostly in animals. In humans, they can cause diseases ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). The disease caused by the new coronavirus has been named COVID-19.The infectious capacity of the virus, along with mortality rates ranging from 1% to above 5%, has raised concerns across the globe.
