About Their Research: The First Use of Laser Therapy in the Treatment of COVID-19 Patients
As part of the North American medical research team, COL (Canadian Optic and Laser Center) has developed and documented the safety and effectiveness of using Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) as an adjunct therapy to treat COVID-19 pneumonia in hospitalized patients. PBMT could noticeably reduce ICU admission rates and length of hospital stay as a result in this research. The benefits are expected regardless of the variants.
PBMT is approved by Health Canada and the FDA to manage musculoskeletal disorders. Normally, high-power lasers are used in surgical and cosmetic procedures. In contrast, PBMT uses low-energy laser and light which stimulates healing, modulates the immune response, and reduces pain and inflammation.
