About Their Research: The First Use of Laser Therapy in the Treatment of COVID-19 Patients

As part of the North American medical research team, COL (Canadian Optic and Laser Center) has developed and documented the safety and effectiveness of using Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) as an adjunct therapy to treat COVID-19 pneumonia in hospitalized patients. PBMT could noticeably reduce ICU admission rates and length of hospital stay as a result in this research. The benefits are expected regardless of the variants.

PBMT is approved by Health Canada and the FDA to manage musculoskeletal disorders. Normally, high-power lasers are used in surgical and cosmetic procedures. In contrast, PBMT uses low-energy laser and light which stimulates healing, modulates the immune response, and reduces pain and inflammation.

COL is the first specialized laser and PBMT research center in British Columbia, with more than 20 years experience. COL Clinic offers various customized laser treatments for clients based on their needs. The laser protocols are extremely high-standard, using the safest and most effective techniques.

COL takes pride in the quality of their work, which has yielded many international awards, research papers, and books on laser therapy and PBMT.

Soheila Mokmeli, COL’s research administrator, is currently a part of the Montreal medical research team of PBMT in COVID-19 patients.
